In this episode, Jennifer kicks things off with an Off the Field update. She is deep in the trenches of planning a massive tournament for the upcoming weekend—handling everything from coordinating volunteers to organizing the post-event cleanup. If you’re a local listener in the Spruce Grove area and have kids looking to make a little extra money or get some work experience this weekend, Jennifer wants to hear from you! Reach out and get involved.

Cam and Jennifer dive into their drinks of choice and reminisce about their failed attempt to create a signature blend called the "JC"—a drink that, unfortunately, did not stand the test of time.

The duo answers a rapid-fire round of fun, coffee-themed questions. Find out what specific coffee drink they think matches their personalities, what job they would actually want if they worked in a coffee shop, and when they first started drinking coffee in the first place.

Tune in for laughs, local community updates, and plenty of caffeine-fueled banter!

Hi, I'm Cam, and I'm Jennifer, and you're listening to Coffee In The Park with Jennifer and Cam. Well, good morning, Jennifer. It's a beautiful, sunny morning. How was your long weekend? Well, it was long, for sure. It was long. It was a long, long weekend. And so, yeah, so those who are listening, it was a long weekend here in... Victoria Day. Victoria Day. Yes. I think that after the Queen, right? It is Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria. You know what? My son was asking me on the drive back from Saskatchewan why it was named Victoria Day. Right, and were you able to adequately share? I believe so. Yeah. Yeah. Queen Victoria. Yeah. So I guess we celebrate her. I'm not really sure why, but we do. I'll take the holiday, doesn't matter. Yeah, that's right. I'll take the holiday. Yeah, so it was pretty good. How about yours? You went on a road trip. I went on a very long road trip to see my mom in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan. Yes. Southern Saskatchewan. Southern Saskatchewan where, Cam, I will say, when I woke up Monday morning to come back there was snow. Snow. It was not a warm weekend. Snow on the May long weekend, which totally, it doesn't surprise me because on the May long weekend, we have seen every kind of weather, like every kind. It can be snowy and really windy. Was it going down? Must have been really windy. Holy smokes. Windy. We had wind warnings of like 110 kilometers. Crazy, eh? Crazy. Yep. That's the long weekend. But yeah, it's come and it's gone. And that kind of the good part is this is a short work week. So that's kind of cool. You know what I'd like to say? What? I'd like every weekend to be a long weekend. Yes, me too. I agree. Don't you agree? No, I totally, 100%. Maybe we could start taking Fridays and Mondays. I'm liking this. And then it'd be like a super long weekend. Oh, this is even better. Which would be awesome. I agree, 100%. I think I'd be more productive. Okay, I don't know who we'd talk to about that. Ourselves. Well, ourselves, because that's the only people that would listen. But anyway, welcome, everybody, to another edition of Coffee In The Park with Jennifer and Cam. And we are coming to you live from the Wall Coffee Roasters in beautiful Downtown Acheson. That's right. So hey, listen, if you hear some noises in the background, some coffee machines or people talking. I think they're roasting today. They're roasting, yeah. You might even hear the roaster going, going, going. And there's no children in here today. They should all be back in school today. That's right, because the long weekend's over. That's right. But yeah, so we're live. And hey, we want to tell you something very special about the Wall Coffee Roaster that's coming up. They are having... They're having a summer bash, Cam. A summer bash. Well, on May... Okay, so it's this Friday, right? The 22nd, May 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. Yeah. And May 23rd from 12 to 3 p.m. And what are they doing? Well, here at the Wall Coffee Roasters in beautiful downtown Acheson, they're having 15% off iced drinks all day. And they're having $2 hot dogs, which yours truly... Yes, you're barbecuing. I'm going to be cueing the dog. And I have... I make a special dog. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but it's a very special dog. Well, I can't come, because I'll be stuck at the baseball diamond all weekend. You have baseball. I do. I'd save you a dog, but by Monday, it would be... Not so good. No, it would be... I'm not going to save it anyways. And they're having a summer drink launch. Okay. Oh. So hey, if you have nothing to do, you need to come down to the Wall Coffee Roasters this Friday, this Saturday, Friday 4 to 8, Saturday 12 to 3 for the Summer Bash. And it's supposed to be beautiful weather. It's going to be beautiful. It's going to be nice. That's right. Come to the Summer Bash. It's going to be awesome. And lots of people will be here. They'll be outside. I think they're going to have like some games for the kids. I'm not sure if that's true. Oh yeah, Michael just gave me the thumbs up. They're having games for the kids. Cam, guess who else is coming? Somebody we sponsor. We sponsor. Yes. Miss Emily. Miss Emily and Sweet Freeze will be here. Sweet Freeze Ice Cream will be here on Saturday. So you want to come out. You want to come because it's going to be awesome. She'll be here with her brand new trike. That's right. Ice cream trike. Hot pink. You won't miss it. Hot pink, and Miss Emily will be here, and it's going to be awesome. So come on down to the Summer Bash, because it's going to be fun. It's going to be great.$2 hot dogs. That's a deal, really. You're not getting that at a hockey game. You're not getting that. That's right.$10 hot. Let's talk about that for a minute, because that really bothers me. You go to a hot, like literally, it's $8 for a hot dog. I know. And it's like little. It's a little dog. It's not a big dog. It's not. How come? I don't understand. Any sporting event. Any sporting event. Or any fair. Do you notice that when you go to like the fair? Oh, yes. I remember that about the Calgary Stampede. Yeah. Or the K-Days or whatever. Like it's like. You're paying like $18 for cotton candy. Yes.$18. She's not even kidding. It's like you have to. Yeah. I mean, it's like a lot of money. It is. But so here at the Wall Coffee Roast.$2 hot dog. It's a steal of a deal. I'm pretty sure they'll be all beef. They're not listening to me over there. They're ignoring us. And I know. I do know they'll be vegetarian as well. We will do veggie dogs for those who don't partake of the beef. Perfect. Yeah. Okay. So yeah. So it's going to be a lot of fun. I hope. Hopefully the weather will be nice. Listen, take some pictures and send them to me as I'm on the field. I will. And listen, you. Okay. Is it a tournament? No. What is it? It's our host. It's our host weekend. Okay. Are we going to do a little off the field talk here? Let's, because I, yeah, let's talk. So basically this is, this is what I'm coining it for this season, Off the field. This is the official start. Yeah. I like that name. We'll do the off the field update. Yeah. Off the field update. How it went? Yeah. So this coming weekend, we have to host. What does that mean? So that means that a community is selected. We don't have a choice, by the way. We're just basically told you have to host. Your weekend to host. It's kind of like a mini tournament. You play three games over the weekend. But we have to, we have to do everything. Now, I talked about this with you last summer. We need to tell people, you are the manager. The off field manager. The off field manager of the, OFM. Yeah. The OFM of the baseball team. Yes. You're the one. I am. You organize it all. And boy, am I organizing this weekend. Are you? Oh, yeah. So you have to do everything. Well, I have to get all the volunteers, cause we have to. Okay, can I, how's that going? That's a, it's a good thing we don't video these, cause that look right there, that was the greatest look. How's it going with the volunteers? That was the greatest look right there. Listen, the struggle is real. The struggle is real. There's three games per day. Oh, per day? Per day. So Saturday and Sunday. And Sunday, yes. Wow. Yes. And the challenge is, you can always get volunteers, parents, for your own games. Everybody will work their kids' games, but we have to have volunteers for the other games that aren't our games, but they're still playing, right? Just at our home facility. Nobody wants to volunteer for that. Right. So, yeah. Wow. So, how do you get them? How do you get them? Well, I get angry. Get angry? I was going to say, what's the incentive? The incentive is Jennifer gets angry. Okay. Well, okay. Hey, you know what? Hey, no. Listen, I've got an idea. I'm going to throw this out on the air right now. Okay. Listen, if you are in the Spruce Grove area, this is where we're playing. That's right. And you have, say, a child that wants to make some money this weekend. Yeah. I'll pay them. Come on. Yeah. Serious? I will. Okay, folks, that's a good deal. All right. And all you got to do is pitch count or score keep. So how many pitches? So it depends, but what you do, you just got to like, it's a little check mark. For every pitch they throw, it's really easy. That's easy. I know. Okay. Okay. I like that. Will you throw in like something to eat or something? Yeah, you bet. Yeah? Okay. I'll buy you something from the concession. This is a deal. That's what I'm saying. If I wasn't busy at the summer bash, I'd come do that. I know. And I'm not gonna ask how much you pay. But I'll pay well. You'll negotiate. I'll negotiate. Okay, that's good. Yeah. Wow. But all it is is two hours and a little bit of your time. That's incredible. I know. Okay. I might even throw in an iced or a warm beverage, depending on how the weather is. An iced or a warm beverage. I love it. So you're gonna get paid. Yeah. You're gonna get lunch from the concession. Yeah. And you're gonna get an iced or a warm beverage. What more do you want? And you get to hang out with me. What? You get to hang out with. True enough. No, that's, do it for free right there. Right. Just because they get to hang out with you. I would, yeah. Okay, cool. All right. So, and three games on Saturday, three games on Sunday. Yes. And you're hosting. Yes, we are. Like hosting, does that mean people stay at your house? Thankfully, no. No? Okay, just you're hosting the games. Hosting, you have to host at the field. Right. So, you're in charge of the volunteers, of the cleanup. Remember my garbage story last year? Yeah. Yeah. You got to like clean the washrooms. But you said you were never doing that again. I'm not. I'm making somebody else do that. You said never again. No. But that's the job of the OFM. Yeah. And so, if you're the OFM, then yeah, you got to do that stuff. Okay. Stay tuned. Cool. Stay tuned. I can hardly wait till next Tuesday when we record. It'll be like, okay, great OFM stories. All right. Going to be awesome. Cool. Well, this is great. And we're sitting here. We're sipping coffee because Coffee In The Park is all about coffee and conversation. That's what we do. And I must say, my vanilla latte today is outstanding. Exceptional. It is exceptional. Awesome. Yeah. No, today's very... I'm having a... Flat white? Are you going to say off white? I was gonna say off white. You're having an off white? I'm having a flat white, which, quite frankly, I still don't know what a flat white is. I think they explained this to us once. Erilyn, What's a flat white? A flat white is about five ounces of steamed milk. Five ounces of steamed milk. With no foam. No foam, yeah. Very light foam, and two ounces of espresso. Okay, and two ounces of espresso. There you have it, everybody. And I'm having a remarkable flat white. It's great, but you heard how they make it, so now it's pretty awesome. I know. I didn't even know that. I didn't either. I just liked it, so I ordered it. I heard somebody order it once, and I thought, I want to do that. Do you remember last year, when you were really on the Blueberry Honey Flat White kick? I know. I wonder if the Blueberry... I saw it. As Erilyn walks by once again. I saw it on the list. They have the Blueberry Honey Flat White? She's giving me the thumbs up. They still have it. I know. I didn't know this. I remember you tried to push that on every guest. I did. I'm going back to that. I didn't know. I thought it was a special drink. No. Last year. Hey, did you also remember when we tried to create our own drink? That's right, what did we call it. Listen, the JC. We call it the JC. I still think that was a stellar drink, and yet it failed. Nobody ordered it. Nobody ordered it. I don't know why. Remember, we even went around to businesses and handed out the JC, and nobody came in and ordered it. Nobody. It was a failure. Are you thinking you want to bring back the JC? No, I'm thinking we come up with something new. Something else. Yeah. Do you think Michael would let us? Well, in light of the success of the JC, it could be a tough sell. Maybe it'll be a one-day special. Oh, maybe. I wonder if for the summer bash. Oh, that's too soon. That's cutting time. That's too soon. It takes us time to like, figure it out. Yes, it does. And we have to taste test. Well, we do. And the Wall Coffee Roasters is open on a Saturday. I know. So maybe for some Saturday down the road. Yes, it could be a special. We could do a special. But not the JC. Not the JC. That did not. I'm with you. It was refreshing. I thought it was a good... And it had an umbrella, a little mini umbrella. I know. And nobody... No. No. Anyway, I liked it and you liked it. And people said they liked it. They just never ordered it. So what does that tell you? That they didn't really like it. They were lying to us. But anyways, yeah, it's good. Yeah, good. That's awesome. So yeah, that's what's going on on our end here. And so today, we got some questions that we're going to ask and answer around coffee and conversation. That's right, because that's really what the premise of this podcast is about. It's coffee and conversation. We have coffee and we have conversation. Sometimes just the two of us. Sometimes we have a guest. But it's just, yeah, coffee and conversation. Exactly. Two friends sitting at a table in a coffee shop, just having coffee and conversation. So, we thought that, and I think we've been asked some of these questions before from people. So, we thought we would ask each other. Okay. You want to kick it off? Okay. I'm going to ask you, I'll start first. Yes. Okay. Cam, if you were a coffee order, yes. What would, okay, no, no, no, no, no. I, okay, I'm going to change that. If I were a coffee order, yeah. What would I be and why? Boy, you would be, you would be, you would be a, I'm going to say a mocha. Oh, okay. Why? Because I like mochas. Yeah. They're awesome. Yeah. They're flavorful. Yeah. Nice hint of chocolate. Yeah. Nice hint of coffee. Okay. Sweet. Yeah. That's why I like it. I'd say I'm more chamomile tea. No, the chamomile tea is that puts you to sleep. That's like, you're not. It's soothing, and calm. Well, you are. But see, a mocha for me is soothing and calm. Okay. Because I like it. It's, it's yeah. Okay. You didn't say tea. You said coffee order. I did. If it was tea, I might have said chamomile for you. But no, you're, you're a mocha. That's what you are to me. All right. Okay. Okay. If I were a coffee, what would I be? You are a double shot of espresso. Double shot of espresso. Zing! Why? Energy, energy, energy. Oh. Yeah. Did you know it's not expresso? It's espresso. I know espresso. Some people just say, I'll have an expresso. It's not. It's espresso. I know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But that's what you would be. Double shot. Yeah, double shot. If I had a double shot of espresso, I would be like all over the, I'd be climbing the walls. Yeah. That's a lot of coffee. But that's who you would be. Yeah. Energy-wise. Okay. Order-wise. Cool. Okay. All right. Next question here. If we, you and I, opened a coffee shop together, what would your role be in the coffee shop? I'd be the manager. You would. I'm not even going to, I'm not even, no, listen, I'm not even going to, I'm not even going to, you would. You would definitely be the manager. You would be telling us all what to do. You'd be especially telling me what to do. There'd be no doubt about that. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. You have superior managerial skills. Managerial skills. You do. You are good. I work with you on a few events, and you know how to manage, and you would manage. Yeah. It'd be good. Okay. What would you be? I'd be the host. Like the Walmart greeter? Yeah. Like the Walmart greeter. Hi. Welcome to the Wall Coffee Roaster. Well, I'm not sure what the name would be. We'd have to figure out a name. But yeah, I'd be the host. I'd host. I'd be like, and then I'd go from table to table. And how are you enjoying your drink today? Oh, I could see that. Are you having a nice time here today? I would just want to talk to people. You wouldn't be the barista? Well, I do know how to do that a little bit. Not as good as these guys, but I do know how to do that. But I don't think I'd be very good at that. No, that's hard. I know it is hard. I couldn't do it. Do you see the little designs they put on ours? I couldn't do it. Like Michael and the team here, they put these cool, nice little designs. There'd be no designs on mine. No, mine either. Like, here's your coffee. Here's your drink. It's like, can I just say about those designs? I find that that must be hard for them because sometimes they do really nice work. I know. And then within seconds, somebody just slurps it up and it's gone. Yeah, I want to ask them how long it took to learn that. Yeah, maybe we'll do a video of you and I learning to do that design. Well, that won't be pretty. No. Like you said, my design would be a straight line. Here you go. Okay. Yeah. So that you'd be the manager, I'd be the host, we'd then obviously have to hire people to make the coffee. Well, we would. Because people just won't come and sit. Who am I managing? You? Stop talking to the customers. Get the coffee going. Stop talking to the customers. Stop. Stop being the host. Stop being friendly to the customers. Just stop. Just stop. No, it's important to be friendly. Okay. But with that in mind. Yes. Who would be the first to be fired from the coffee shop? Okay. Seeing you're the manager, you'd fire me like right now. Like I bet you, okay, here'd be my prediction. You'd fire me like five times a day. It'd be like, and then you'd say, okay, you can come back, but don't do that again. But you would. Then I'd come back, and I'd do it again, and you'd fire me again. Maybe. Like, yeah. I'd be like, see, I couldn't fire you. No. You're the manager. I know. What am I gonna do? I could go on strike. Well, you could, but then I'd just hire somebody else. That's right. Just replace me. I'd replace you. See, folks, that's- You're not union. You're good. That's the podcast right there. She always threatens me, I can replace you. So it'd be like Coffee In The Park with Jennifer and Ralph. That's what it would be. Hey, it could be like... Where's Cam? He's out. Remember when Jeopardy was trying to find a new host, and they just rotated through? I know. Did you hear that, folks? My job is it hangs in the balance every podcast. Okay. So my nose is running. I don't know why. Uh oh. It's spring allergies. Spring allergies. The allergies are hitting today. All right. So that question about the firing, that's an unfair question because you can't get fired. You're the manager. I thought it was a great question. It's a good question. That's right. There'd be signs. Cam is banned from the coffee shop. Okay. All right. Next question. Here we go. If your life had a theme song, what's playing when you walk in to the coffee shop? If your life had a theme song. Okay. I don't know if this is the actual title. Okay. The Greatest American Hero. It has nothing to do with American. What show is that? That was a show on TV. Yeah. What was that show? I remember that. I know. The Greatest American Hero. Yeah. What was that show? Oh my goodness. We'll have to look that up. We'll look it up. But you know which one it was. Oh, I know the song. You know the song. Yeah, totally. 100%. Believe it or not. Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. Yeah. That's it. That's it. That'd be the song. Yeah. As I'm walking in, that's it. Oh, okay. Yeah. You? Wow. Mine would be, only because in my wildest dreams, mine would be the theme song from Top Gun. Oh, like the... Well, there's a couple of themes. Well, there is. What's the one? Danger Zone? Kenny Loggins? Danger Zone. Kenny Loggins. Yeah. Kenny Loggins. Danger Zone. Yeah. That's it. That'd be mine. Danger Zone. Only because that... My nose is really running here. Keep talking. That, for me, is like one of the most amazing songs, and it's how I want to live. I don't necessarily live. It's how I want to live. I have to keep talking, because Jennifer went to get me a napkin because my nose is running. I don't even know why. Oh, this is just coffee and conversation, folks. That's what happens. Coffee and conversation. So that would be mine, Danger Zone. I like it. Yeah, that's good. That's good. Walking On Air and Danger Zone. Now I'm gonna sing that all day. Yeah, I know it'll be in my brain all day. I have to go watch Top Gun again, because that's my favorite movie of all time. Anyway, okay, all right. Next question. This is important. Are you a sit and sip or grab and go coffee person? What do you like better? Do you like to sit and sip or grab and go? That's a tough one, actually. You know what? It depends on. It does depend. It depends. In the mornings, if I have time, I like to sit and sip. Sit and sip. Yeah. But during the day, grab and go. Grab and go. For sure. Okay. You? No, I would... Well, no. In the morning, I'm a grab and go. Are you? Yeah, I'm a grab and go. Probably the only time... Well, no. I was going to say, the only time I sit and sip is during the podcast, or if we have meetings, or I have a meeting here at the coffee shop, then I sit and sip. But I only do that because I'm in a meeting. I don't really just come and sit and sip. No. I grab and go. Do you know what I enjoy? No. In the summer. Yes. In the mornings, on a weekend, if I have time, if I'm not at baseball or wherever, is I can take my coffee, I can sit on my lawn furniture that I purchased last year. Right, you did. You bought new lawn furniture. I know, I did. And sit and sip my coffee. That's awesome. I know, but it rarely happens. Yeah, no, I wouldn't. Yeah, I bought a new piece of lawn furniture. Did you? What did you buy? I bought a plastic adirondack chair from Home Depot.$24.99?$29. Oh, $29. It went up. Last year, they were $24.$29.99. Inflation. And I'm just going to say this right now. You're right. I love sitting in my plastic adirondack chair and sipping a coffee. They're actually quite comfy, those plastic ones. And I splurged, and I bought a little cushion because I had a- Do you have a little side table to go with it? No, I was looking for one of those. I did have a- I had two real adirondack chairs. Oh, those were heavy. They were- They cost me, like, 200 and some odd dollars each. That was, like, three years ago, now they'd be, like, 600. But you strain your back moving them. Exactly. And so I sold them to a guy who wanted them for- Facebook Marketplace? Yep. Wanted them- he bought them just like that because he wanted them for around his campfire at home, his fire pit. And so he bought- because I think I didn't charge enough. I charged enough to cover the plastic adirondack chair. That's what you need to do. Yeah. Anyway, I'm with you on a nice on a nice summer weekend morning to just sit out on my on my patio and have a nice cup of coffee. But that's that's really the only time, I know, I'm other than that. Otherwise, grab and go. Yeah, I have. Do you have a lot of grab and go cups? I have a lot of- You know what? I've really reduced. Man, I got to reduce. I donated. I got rid of a lot. Did you? I did. The only ones I have now, I've got a Yeti one that I really like. Yeah, Yeti, yeah. And I have a Genics one. Oh yeah, the Genics one. Remember the white Genics ones? I ordered those. You ordered those. They're actually camelbacks. Yeah. But those are the only two. And they're good for sip and go. They are. Yeah. Okay. That's awesome. All right. But I do like coming to the coffee shop. Actually, I'm looking over there, because they have a nice patio at the coffee shop, and they're cleaning the patio right now. Probably for the summer bash. For the summer bash. And it's nice to sit out there. I know. Sometimes. Sometimes when the dirt's not blowing. It's not. Because we are in beautiful downtown Acheson where the dirt tends to blow. All right. Okay. Next question. All right. Next question. Now, this is a tough one. This is a tough one. Yeah. It is. Are you an ice coffee person or a hot coffee? And you can't say both. You have to pick one. Okay. My answer for this is seasonal. That's fair. Yeah. Yeah. Because as we know, here in Edmonton, it gets a little cold in the winter. Who's drinking an iced coffee in minus 30? Actually, I should just come in and order one. Just because it's minus 30. So yeah. So that's hot. But then in the summer, I enjoy a really nice iced coffee. Can I just say, I've actually started drinking iced coffee, just regular iced coffee this summer. Yeah. Really? I've been drinking them for a while because I like them. They're really good. They are good. So I've even sometimes in the morning on my grab and go, I'll have an iced coffee. Oh. Just coffee, not like the ice cappuccinos from a certain place. I have iced coffee with milk. Yeah, with milk. That's it. Yeah. I don't just have it straight up. No. No, I have milk. Because some of those ice beverages you get are pure sugar. Well, no, you're right. That's why I'll say, and sometimes I'll ask them if they'll use the non-fat milk. Oh, yeah. If they have that. It's just to, it's like how I drink a coffee actually, coffee with a little bit of milk or cream. And so, yeah, I actually really like cold coffee. Yeah, I've really started to enjoy it too. Yeah, we should have that in our office more often, cold coffee. We can. We can. Yeah, we should do that. But it's coming in to cold coffee season. It is. Yes, cold beverage season. So, cold beverage. Yeah, it doesn't have to be a coffee. No. It could be something else. I know. You can get cold lattes. At The Wall Coffee Roaster, you can get anything iced. You can, anything cold. Yeah. I wonder if you can get this flat white cold. Yes, I think you've had. Could you? You've had, yes, we did. I had it. The honey blueberry one. The honey blueberry. That's right. Remember? Oh, my shattered. Listen, folks, you got to come try the honey blueberry cold flat white. It's awesome. Awesome. Yeah. Okay. Let's move on. More questions. Okay. How, oh, this is good. How many cups of coffee do you drink in a day? An average day. Average day. I'll say two. I'll have one in the morning. Yeah. And usually either iced or hot in the afternoon. Now, coming up to a baseball weekend, there could be significantly more. Six, tweleve, fourteen. Yes. Twenty four. Jennifer is just like drinking them right here. They'd be taking me to the hospital. Oh, man. You'd be, yeah. Yeah. Wow. That's a lot. But you have to keep going. Yeah, you do. When you're the OFM, you have to keep going. You got to do what you got to do. So, but on a normal work day, one to two, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Try to have one around like two o'clock. Yeah. Because that's the crash. Well, three o'clock, I turn into Elmo. Well, three for you is Elmo. Yeah. People are like, what does that mean? It means she crashes. You're done. At three o'clock, we're done. If we're working, it's like, okay, we're done. She just tootles back to her office, closes the door, and hangs in there till 4.30 till she's done, done. But yeah, she's like done. No, yeah, I am. Right. No, yeah, I hear you. I totally, yeah. Okay, and you? I'm like you, one in the morning, and then usually, yeah, one in the afternoon sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. I don't drink coffee at night. No, I don't either. I do. Although I have had coffee at night, and I've slept, but I don't know how well I sleep. That's true. So, but I know people. People will drink coffee all day, like one right after the other. How do you do that? My in-laws used to put a pot of coffee on before bed, and drink a pot of coffee before bed. And they slept okay? Oh, sure. Unbelievable. See, I couldn't do that. I'd be up all night. Yeah, I'd be wandering the house. There's no way. No, I agree. And I don't know how people do it. Some people just one right after the other, one right after the other. And you know what? Studies have shown coffee isn't bad for you. No. In fact, it's good for you. Apparently, it's quite good for you. Yes. Maybe not 24 cups in a day, but yes. All things in moderation, but yeah. Yeah. No, I don't know. I don't know. It'd be interesting to know what people drink in a day. Some people have sworn off coffee. Oh, see. I couldn't do that. Me either. No. And I don't want to. And then some people, well, yeah, they drink a lot of coffee. We try to switch to tea in the afternoon. And we still do. Sometimes there's tea. From time to time, we have a tea. We do. Sometimes the tea doesn't give me that caffeine buzz that I need. Because 3 o'clock is like, wha, done, er. But this is interesting because this brings us to the next question, which I find is a very interesting question. At what point in your life did you go from, I'm not drinking any coffee, to now I drink coffee? Oh, I know the exact moment. So I didn't start drinking coffee until my first, I would say, not like a summer job, a real full time job. Up until then, throughout university, I did not. You never drank coffee in university? I thought it was disgusting. No, I did not. I didn't like the taste of it. That's crazy. I didn't. To stay awake, I drank, oh my, the giant, for those that remember, the giant big gulps from 7-Eleven filled with Coke. Big gulps. Or Pepsi. That's right. Pepsi, yes. I bet it was the super big gulp you had. It was, and that's what I used to stay awake. So bad for you, but yeah. Wow. So you didn't start drinking coffee till you had your first job. No, and I don't even remember why. Like what was the catalyst for me drinking coffee? Peer pressure. Probably. Everybody was going for coffee. Or there was no 7-Eleven close by. Well, that was more like it, because there wasn't. Yeah. That's true. There actually, no. It was before Uber Eats. No, you know what it was. It was, Tim Hortons was across the street because I was working at the Aviation Museum. Right, right, right. There was nothing out by the airport at that time in Calgary. But a Timmy's. There was a Timmy's across the street. So went and got a Timmy's, and then started drinking coffee. Right. Yeah. Wow. Incredible. I know. You? Well, I'm like you. I never drank it in college. My friends drank bucket loads of coffee. Like, you have to pull all-nighters for your papers and studying for exams, and they would drink bucket loads of coffee. But can I just say, back then, back in those days, coffee shops weren't as prevalent as they are now. No, they weren't as thing as they are now. When I was in college, there was no Starbucks. Right. And Tim Hortons was pretty scarce, I'd say. There was a few around. And so it was. You had to be somewhere where somebody could put on a pot of coffee. Right. And somebody would make sure that's done. And we would stay up all night studying and doing papers. And they would drink bucket loads. And I just couldn't. I couldn't. I drank pop. Lots. So did I. Not necessarily always a big gulp, but I would drink Pepsi. Pepsi was my favorite. How do I not have diabetes from all the pop? Exactly. And we'd buy two liters and just pour the two liter. I didn't start drinking coffee until I think it was I lived in Kelowna. It might have been. And I think that's... Was it peer pressure for you? Yeah, I think so. Was it a job? Yeah, I think I was getting older and trying to be more mature and keep up with everybody. And I don't know why that was kind of dumb because that never really worked. But yeah, and then I moved back to Vancouver, and that's when it really clicked in. And the Vancouver coffee scene was like man everywhere. And you had to go and try this and try that. And then Starbucks was coming online and all that kind of stuff. And so then I traveled quite a bit. I remember, I was in Singapore when they opened. I was there the day they opened the very first Starbucks. I bet you the line was like... Yeah. Miles. I'm not even kidding. Miles down the street. And I'm like, what's the big deal? I just go back to Vancouver and there's like Starbucks. In Vancouver, I remember there was so many Starbucks. I do remember that. Remember on, was it Davie Street? Or no, Robson Street. On Robson Street, there was... Kitty Corner Starbucks. Kitty Corner Starbucks. Right across from each other. How times have changed. Yeah, it's right. Every week, it's like we're closing 300 Starbucks. But anyways, that... And so that was kinda... And there, everybody... They were like coffee connoisseurs. Right. So you had to... It was a scene, like a coffee scene. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then actually, Michael came and worked with me for a couple years in Vancouver. And he really... Michael, even then, he loved his coffee. Well, you know what? Edmonton actually has a really good coffee scene. Yes, we do. We really do. I don't think most people know that. No, we have a great coffee scene. Yes. Some great coffee shops, some great roasters, some great people. And it's... yeah. And it's... And so, yeah, for me, and then it just kind of stuck. But I'm like not a purist. No. I have to have cream in my coffee. Yeah. And I have... like this flat white has... I forget what she said in it, but that's stuff. Just no foam. That's what I remember. No foam. But yeah. So yeah. So that's, you know, kind of as we sit here today in the coffee shop, those are, yeah, questions you might have asked. Wait, I have one more question. Oh, it's not on the list. Oh, man. Okay. Did you ever drink instant coffee? No, but my mom did. I remember my grandma having instant coffee. My mom did. Senka. Senka. Senka. Yes. And we always had a jar of Senka. Yes. The younger generation will have no idea what we're talking about. No, because they didn't know how to use coffee makers or anything like that. They used percolators. I remember I had a percolator. Like a bloop, bloop, bloop. But you're right. My mom drank instant coffee. All the Senka. I can't imagine drinking instant coffee. You can still buy it, I think. But I don't know who drinks it. Yeah. We're kind of spoiled now because coffee is so... I'm not going to say gourmet-ish, but it is really like there's so much good coffee out there. There is. Yeah. So Senka would be like... Senka would be like your last resort. Like if you were dying and all you had was a tin of Senka or a can of Senka. And you needed that extra caffeine. Like, yeah, no. Yeah. So yeah. Yeah. So that's, you know, as we come to... And here at The Wall Coffee Roasters, if you've never been, some of the finest coffee, and they roast it right here, we get to look right over there and see Brendan, he's roasting today, right over there. And then we look over there and Michael's behind the till, and then we look over there and I don't know what they're doing. But anyways... Erilyn's cleaning the deck. Erilyn's cleaning the deck. For the summer bash. For the summer bash. So yeah, so that's us and coffee. Coffee and conversation. That's right. But I will say, there's something nice about sitting with someone, a friend, and having a nice cup of coffee, and just having a good conversation. There really is. Having a good chat. Yeah. Yeah. I like it. I know. And I think, as we talk about today's world, I think people need to do more of that. I agree with you. Do you know one of the things I love the most when the weather is nice and you find a nice patio? Yes. And you get whether it's a nice coffee or a coffee, and you just sit on the patio. And catch up. And catch up. Yeah. I agree with you. We need to do more of that. We should start a campaign. Are we getting buttons? Coffee and conversation. Yes. That's all. Life will go so much better. If all of us took one day a week. One day a week. And sat with somebody and had coffee and conversation. And I know you're saying it's hard to do. It is. No, you have to make time. You have to put it in your calendar. I think we'd all feel better. I agree with you. On a nice summer day, on a winter day, in a nice cafe, like the wall coffee roasters, like just to sit and chat. I know. And sometimes you just end up chatting for hours. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I like it. It's good. It's good. Wow. That's good coffee conversation right there. We had good coffee conversation today. I really liked it. I know. And hey, just want to remind you again, after our coffee conversation about the summer bash coming up at the Wall Coffee Roasters. Soccer, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, swimming. Somebody who was swimming told me the other day how much work. They're kids in swimming. And it's not like you just go to the pool and your kid jumps in.
